Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Microwave
An integrated interdisciplinary thematic study of making healthy food choices. Today when society is in such aa hustle and bustle, people everywhere are trying to make ends meet, we find that more and more teens are suffering from stress related illnesses and obesity, conditions brought on as a result of poor nutrition and lack of exercise. This unit has been designed for a Leadership class in an alternative high school grades 9-12 with student ranging in age from 15 to 21 years old. It has been prepared to enlighten, inform and equip the students with the necessary nutritional information to make healthy food choices. The student will not only understand why the nutritional changes are necessary, but they will know what, when, and how to change their diets to make them healthier.
