Pondering Around the Pond: Be Pacific or Down, Down, Down to that... Burning the Ring of Fire

An integrated, interdisciplinary unit examining the interconnectedness among the Pacific Rim Countries. In light of the changing world economy, there is an increasing interest in the relationships amoung the countries, which make up the Pacific Rim. The Pacific Northwest is an important entry point for goods fromt he Pacific Rim and our population reflects the Immigration from and interaction with other Pacific Rim cultures. Therefore, it is important for students to understand what is unique about the Pacific Rim region. This unit will define the Pacific Rim through culture, geography, and economic relationships.
