An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on Communities In order for students to fully understand where they are living and in what direction their future lies, they must first understand the history and dynamics of how communities grow and change. Transportation, location, resources, and raw materials all contribute to the growth of a community. This unit examines these aspects of a community and how each factor impacts the growth and change that occurs. Students will also be learning how they can be an effective member of their community.
