"Romancing America"

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic examination of early 19th Century America for 10th grade Humanities.

The Romantic Era (1800-1860) was the first era in which Americans were able to find a uniquely "American Voice." Having fought the Revolution and established a nation, they were ready to begin an introspective examination of who they were and where they were going.

Helping to feed this self-examination was the impact of a tremendous land mass to the west and the birth of manifest destiny.
