Rummaging Through the Nation's Attic or Who Says You Can't Take 150 8th Graders to A Mall?
An integrated, interdisciplinary unit on Washington, D.C., culminating with a class trip. The seat of our nation's government and a large portion of our nation's history are housed in Washington, D.C. This interdisciplinary/integrated unit is designed to give each child a basic understanding of the historical/cultural significance of various components of the city. Students will be guided in an educational journey where they discover the historical sites of our nation's capital and comprehend the events that they represent. The students will be exposed to monuments, museums, and other cultural sites and they will discuss and examine various historical events and how they affected our nation's evolution.
