This unit is designed to give the student and understanding of slavery. The student will gain knowledge of how historical events of slavery have shaped and influenced contemporary beliefs in our society, and apply that knowledge to everyday life. This examination of slavery will lead students to improved awareness, understanding of human differences, and tolerance. Students will examine the cause and effect of slavery, and how it impacts society today.
