An integrated, interdisciplinary thematic study unit on plate testonics for 9th grade students. Recent occurrences of earthquakes in Washington state have necessitated a knowledge and awareness of plate tectonics. Included in this unit are how volcanoes and earthquakes in Washington state occur because of interaction. Essential to this unit is an understanding of how interaction among systems can cause changes in matter and energy.
