An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Japan for Grades 2-3 American students need to have an increased awareness of Japan, a powerful and dynamic leader of our global community. The knowledge and understanding students gain through a basic introduction to the people and places of Japan will lead toward a greater appreciation and respect for the Japanese people. This will lead to a greater understanding that all people are connected by a shared humanity and that similarities among people are more significant than differences.
