An Interdisciplinary Thematic Study on The Ecological Environment of Florida Florida's citizens need a clean environment to live, work, and play. Our states economy depends heavily on visitors who come to Florida for sunshine, clean air and water. Protecting our environment is critically important because it is threatened by people and development. Animals are losing their habitats. Water is polluted. Vegetation is destroyed. This unit will teach children about the Florida envionment they live in, how it is threatened, and how we must protect it. Therefore, our children need to be ecologically literate.
