An integrated, interdisciplinary unit on outdoor education, survival skills and self sufficiency for middle school students. Students with learning disabilities learn best through lessons that are based on experiential, hands-on learning opportunites. When they can "do it", it automtically becomes part of their memory. Students will learn about the importance of surviving in the wilderness, problem solving strategies, how to prioritize items of necessity, and how to be an effective member of a team. this unit will help our students become more aware of their surroundings and develop a better appreciation for nature and how to preserve it.
