This integrated interdisciplinary thematic study Waterways Comparing Ancient Civilizations to the Present is important because water is an integral part of our life. It is important that our students learn to become stewards of our world today. This unit has been inspired by the continuing studies of the local trout stream which which is nationally known for its quality.
Black Earth Creek is one of America's 100 top trout streams. It is located in northwestern Dane County, approximately 20 miles west of Madison. The stream runs along the school property boundaries and as a result has provided and ideal outdoor laboratory setting.
