The Dimming Of The American Dream
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on World War I for Secondary Students World War I was a defining event for America as a leading world power. American philosophies were shaped by the events which followed the war. The experience of WWI tainted and, some believe, shattered the vision many held for themselves in a free and prosperous society. American idealism was then reshaped by these historical events. Every student's personal concept of this American dream is enhanced by an understanding of the philosophy from the historical perspective of 1914 to 1920.
