An integrated, interdisciplinary unit for 10th graders on the development of a Federal Republic, a national economy, and a national foreign policy: 1870-1920. The "Gilded Age" represents a part of the American experience integral to understanding the development of current American government, economics and foreign policy. It was a period marked by a concern that government was corrupt and ineffectual, corporate avarice, a burgeoning distance between the tiny ruling class and the massive lower class, and international isolation and chauvinistic imperialism.
