An Interdisciplinary Study of Utopias and Dystopias. Because students live in a world with both positive and negative aspects, a
study of utopias and dystopias in literature and in history will clarify their
understanding of the world they occupy today as well as the world they may
occupy tomorrow. Also, students will see how they can make choices in the
world they will occupy. These worlds might take the form of a utopia -- an ideal vision of political, economic, and/or social system; a dystopia -- a
utopia gone amiss; or a combination of the two.l
