An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on Measurement This unit is important because students use measuring skills in everyday life (e.g. sewing, carpentry, cooking). In order to be successful in many careers, students must be able to measure accurately. The essential concepts in this unit are: measurement of inches, feet, capacity, volume, perimeter, area, graphing, percentages, ratio, time, etc. It is important to give students the opportunities to apply these concepts in real life situations.
