An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on exploring the Western African Slave Trade. This unit is important to remind students of the history of the slave trade and human trafficking and how this process is still going on today. The essential concept of this unit is that Slavery and human trafficking has always been a part of the devastation of families and the destruction of certain countries economies including Western Africa. In addition to this concept, student will understand that women have taken leadership roles in trying to stop the slave trade and human trafficking.
