An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on "The Middle Ages" It is important to study the Middle Ages because the events and culture of that time influenced contemporary events and culture. Some cultural patterns today had their origin in the Middle Ages. By studying the history, culture, literature, and arts of the Middle Ages, students will be able to see those connections and become more culturally literate. In addition, this unit addresses several Illinois and Michigan State goals.
