The Reign from Spain Falls Mainly on the Plain

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit Teaching the Culture, History, and the Influence of the Spanish in the Southwest. The unit was developed to show early secondary students (grades 9 and 10) the impact of the Spanish, Mexicans, Native American Indian and Americans have had on the history, culture, literature, and science of the southwestern part of the United States. It is important for students to understand this because the Hispanic population is growing throughout the US and for many, it is part of their own cultural heritage.
