An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of Native American Cultures for Middle School Studying Native Americans in depth provides many benefits to the student: the opportunity to - 1) understand the history and culture of the first Americans as unique, geographically driven civilizations; 2) understand the contributions to the "American" way of life we enjoy today made by the Native Americans; 3) understand the impace of Native American culture on world civilizations in the areas of language, art, medical science, environmental science, government and philosophy; 4) understand the connections of our lives today with the lives of Native Americans as people.P
