  • $5.50

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on a perspective of the period through the serial novel, the steam engine, and an optimistic view of life. The years 1832 to 1901, known as the Victorian Age in English Literature, produced a plethora of
works not only in England, but also in the United States, France, and Russia, as well. This integrated,
intra-disciplinary, differentiated, multi-cultural thematic unit will study this explosion of literary masters
through an understanding of the history and social issues of this sixty-nine year period. The purpose of this
study is a consideration of this period as it is a lens for focusing on the milieu that is presently our own.
The students will be led through a presentation of the ethics and values of the Victorian Age as they provide
insight into thoughts about human behavior that the students may weigh and evaluate as they prepare to be
educated, responsible members of society for the twenty-first century.
