This Land Is Your Land! This Land Is My Land! (Whatever!) This Land Was Made For Only Me!

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Spanish Explorers and Their Effects on the New World Spanish exploration and settlement of the New World is important because what happened then shaped the history of South America, Central America, and North America. This unit is designed to give students a sense of the interactions between humans and their environment, give students an understanding of the relationships between place and culture, and give students an awareness of the characteristics of specific regions and culture. In addition, Spanish exploration of the New World is a recurring theme in the Core Knowledge Social Studies curriculum.
