An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Simple Machines The body is a machine enabling one to do work. In this unit, the students will see how the human body's musculature and bones function as well as the role the brain plays in controlling these movements. They will then examine the parallel function of six simple machines and how machines have improved man's mechanical advantage. Through an examination of the Industrial Revolution, they will assess the effectiveness of these machines in enhancing our day-to-day lives.
