An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on Ocean Life, Uses of the Ocean and the Importance of Protecting the Ocean Much of the earth is covered by water/oceans. People depend on the ocean for many things. The ocean is important for economy, natural resources, travel, recreation, jobs and food. This unit will teach the students how and why the oceans are important and why we should protect them.
