Waves of Immigration OR Red Rover, Red Rover, Let Us Come Over

An integrated, interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of Immigration. This unit is important to intermediate grade children because it will help them understand the importance of their role in our "melting pot" society. This unit will teach three different aspects of European Immigration to America during 1850-1950. 1.) The fact that America is a nation of immigrants. 2.) The effect the large number of immigrants had on the culture, population, and economics of the United States. 3.) The origins of the immigrants, the areas they settled in, and their reasons for coming to America.
