We hope you Dance! Dancing with Figurative Language.
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary Study of Figurative Language. Figurative language is used in all types of writing and speaking. We want students to understand the power, beauty, and profundity of figurative language and be able to create their own original figures of speech - their own "dances." While the majority of insight takes place in students' minds, most of the shifts in awareness begin in the classroom and become a dance with the teacher, student, family, and community. To invite students to "dance" with figurative language is to ask them to step out of their comfort zones, try new steps, experiment without fear, and enjoy figurative language. Dancing is fun and is a metaphor for life and experiences; we hope you dance.
