An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Study of the Colonization of Central and South America After Columbus' first of four voyages to the "New World", Spanish galleons began regular trips across the Atlantic, driven by dreams of wealth and conquest. This unit is designed to give students insight into the motivation and end result of the Spanish monarchy's willingness to underwrite the exploration.
