Wheels to the West Keep on Turning: Where Will We Be Tomorrow
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit as you embark on a journey west along the Oregon Trail It is important for students to realize how movement changed and shaped the country that we live in. People moved west to build new communities in the 1800's. Students should make appropriate connections between their daily lives and the past. Students should also come to understand why settlers set up their communities in certain locations as opposed to other. Furthermore, reasons why change is needed and how the environment affects decisions is also an important concept to help with their understanding about the country they live in.
