An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Secondary Unit to Explore Our Ethnicity Through Music. This is a year-long enhancement unit for a performance based curriculum that helps students develop an awareness of their own ethnic heritage and cultural Diversity through the study of music, art, dance, traditions, foods, costumes, and celebrations.
Ethnicity is the condition of belonging to a particular ethnic group, or experiencing ethnic pride.
Culture can be defined as the arts, beliefs, customs, institutions and all other products of human work and thought created by a people or group at a particular time.
In addition, this unit is important because it meets Michigan Curriculum Framework, Proposed Arts Education Standards and Benchmarks.
