Where on Earth is Higley, AZ? Why would you go there? A study of maps, continents, oceans

An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic, Standards-based Unit on maps, globes, continents, oceans and culture. Students will learn why maps and globes are important, the parts of a map, and how to read a map. Students will learn to locate and label where they are, where different locations are, and that the world is made up of different oceans and continents. Students will understand that maps have symbols that represent real things. They will also learn about different cultures on the earth, ecology, and physical and human attributes of the earth.
