An integrated, interdisciplinary, thematic study of slavery from its orgins to today. Human slavery has been a dark side of society for centuries. Forced servitude reduces an entire class of people to a subhuman status existence. In studying the Civil War and the abolishment of slavery in the United States, it is important for our students to understand the following:
1. The foundation of slavery.
2. Cultures of the enslaved.
3. Facts surrounding the history of enslavement.
4. The exonomic and cultural impact that has driven slavery through our time.
5. The moral and ethical issues that surround slavery.
6. The slavery practices of the past, those currently in place, and predicting the future of slavery in our society.
